A lovely vintage circa 1947 silver plated ice bowl from a Chicago and North Western Railway dining car. Great condition for it's age, no major dents or signs of old repairs, it has polished up very nicely with some wear inside. Someone at one time put a rubber band around the body of the bucket near the top rim, it has left a matte band around the silver. I tried to polish it out gently with silver cream, but did not try any liquid/chemical or more abrasive polishes because I wanted it to stand out a bit in photos. It should polish up more if desired, but probably will always be a little off in tone, as rubber will react with and eat into silver over time. Don’t put rubber bands on silver!
