A beautiful antique circa 1930 copper pot with iron handle and hand-applied tin lining, from The Hangar Club at 34 and 36 East 63rd Street in New York City. Originally opened in 1930 as a private social club for aviation enthusiasts, financiers, and men involved in the aviation business, it’s casual luxury quickly became a favorite of writers and publishers as well, but unfortunately did not have a long life and by the mid 1940s the club was closed and auctioning off all of their furnishings, including this lovely copper pot!
Excellent antique condition, small signs of age and use in the way of small marks and surface scratches, but no dents or damage. This pot has been newly polished and retinned it so it is ready for use! Stamped on one side with “Hangar Club.”
Measures 8.5” wide by 6” high, nearly 16.75“ long including handle; this heavy hotel or commercial weight pot weighs nearly 6.5 pounds empty. The rim measures 2-2.3mm wide with slight variation.
