1915 Sterling Silver and Cow Horn Agricultural Trophy

$2,250.00

A stunning and rare, one of a kind antique Sterling Silver Trophy cup with natural bovine horn handles! The trophy is expertly engraved on two sides with farming and agricultural scenes including horses, cows, farmers, a barn, and turn of the century agricultural equipment. There is applied sterling silver lettering around the top and on one panel that reads:
Perpetual Cup
Championship Cup
Presented by
La Crosse Bankers Association
1915

In excellent condition for its age, no dents or damage, though there’s some rippling around the base near the attachment of one of the horn handles. It looks like the horn handle was reattached rather sloppily, and probably whatever caused it to become unattached from the cup as what also caused the rippling to the sterling around the base of the stem. The handle is securely reattached, but it could be cleaned up and expertly put back in place by a professional. Fortunately, because of the design of this cup and the way the horns twist around the base, this issue isn’t actually visible unless you are looking closely at the cup. Otherwise, it is in fantastic condition! There is mild to moderate tarnish, I have mostly polished up the trophy but left some of the tarnish to highlight the delicate engraving and design in the photos. It will polish perfectly if desired with the exception of a small spot around the reattached handle.

Measures approximately 10.75” tall by 7” wide at the widest point.
