Antique Reed & Barton Sterling Silver Trophy, engraved on front "Namaganeset Field Club, Ladies Tennis Singles” in excellent condition for its age, no dents or damage, just some small surface marks and one small, shallow bump, seen only when looking closely. Mild tarnish that will polish perfectly if desired. The handles are still firmly attached without chips or breakage, one base pin has slipped slightly so one handle has a little bit of a wobble when you're pushing on it, but it is still very securely attached and a jeweler or someone handy could tap the pin back into place if desired. Measures approx. - 5 1/4" high x 6 1/4" wide. Weight approx. - 8.924 Oz.
The Namaganeset Field Club was Amagansett's first tennis club, it opened in 1903 across Indian Wells highway from a nine hole golf course that had opened in 1899. This was during the period when the area was changing from small beach cottages and farms to larger summer estates, it was one of the first country club style amenities in the area.
