A fantastic and rare circa 1889 heavy silver plated tray from the Hotel Metropole in New York City. A wonderful early piece of Manhattan hotel silver! In amazing condition for its age, no dents or damage just small signs of use in the way of surface scratches. It has polished to a beautiful shine with a bit of a patina left around the detailing, there is some very minor wear to the silver plating in the center of the tray but nothing that distracts from the beauty of this piece. The rim of the tray is engraved “HM”, and the tray is marked on the back with the Hotel name along with Gorham marks and their date stamp for manufacture on the year 1889. The tray measures approximately 14 inches long by 10 inches wide.
