A beautiful vintage circa 1940s silver plated round serving dish from the historic Clift Hotel in San Francisco, CA! In my decades of antiquing I’ve encountered these dishes a number of times; they don’t appear in the old hotel silver catalogs I’ve collected and no one seems to know what they were officially made for, but I’ve always used them for anything that needs a dip. Oysters or shrimp with a cocktail or mignonette in a center bowl, cheese and charcuterie with mustard, crudites and dip, bread and whipped compound butter, etc. They are a great all-purpose serving dish!

Great condition for it's age, no big dents or damage, but there are some small utensil marks, light scratches, bumps & dings, and signs of use. It has polished up beautifully! Marked on the top with the hotel crest, marked underneath the with the hotel name and made by Reed & Barton.

Measures slightly under 12” wide
