A lovely little antique circa late 19th Century copper sauté pan with iron handle and tinned interior, made for John J. Astor by Duparquet, Huot & Monsuese of New York. In amazing condition for its age, no big dents or damage, just the kinds of bumps, small marks and signs of use you’d expect from old copper that is about 120+ years old. It’s extremely flat with excellence symmetry. This pan has been polished, re-tinned and is ready for use!

Marked DH & M Co., 43&45 Wooster St, N.Y.; also stamped “J. J. Astor N. Y. 9”

Measures just a bit over 6 inches across not including handle, 12.75 inches in length including the handle, by just a hair under 2 inches deep. This pot weighs an impressive 2 pounds 7 ounces empty, amazing for a pot of this small size! The walls vary from 2.3 mm to 2.5 mm thick near the rim, and are much thicker near the base of the pot. It has been professionally polished and retinned and is ready for use!

Based on the age of this pan it almost certainly belonged to John Jacob Astor IV, an American businessman and prominent member of the Astor family who perished aboard the RMS Titanic in 1912.
