A lovely antique circa 1900-1910 English glass match striker with sterling silver rim made by Asprey & Co. Excellent antique condition, just some very small fleabites to the glass and a chip along the base, no dents or damage to the sterling. Full hallmarks for Sterling Silver assayed in London, but the date letter is rubbed and unreadable.
Measures approximately 5" tall by 5.25" wide. This striker is so large our strike anywhere matches can barely be seen inside of it, and unfortunately they no longer make the larger size matches that the striker was meant for. You could easily cut a small piece of wood, cork, or felt to fit inside of the bottom cup to raise the matches up by an inch or two, or you could simply fill it with decorative matches that are large enough to be seen.
