A rare and beautiful antique circa 1890s silver plated coffee or chocolate pot with carved walnut handle, made by Christofle for the Kursaal Cirque in Besancon (Burgundy), France. Marked on the front of the pot with the theater name, on the base with Christofle marks and the ordinal number for manufacture in the year 1892.
The Kursaal Cirque was envisioned and built as a theater and circus hall for the visitors of the spa town of Besançon-les-Bains.
In excellent condition, no large dents or damage, just some very small bumps to the spout and light surface scratches from handling and polishing. It has polished up beautifully! There is a small repair to the lid finial that is only visible when looking close, and has been done expertly.
Measures approximately 9.75 inches tall by 10.5 inches wide including handle, 8 inches wide across the spout side.
