A big and beautiful antique circa late 1800s copper stock pot with brass handles, made for the historic Grand Pump Room hotel in bath, Somerset England. In excellent condition for its age, no dents or damage, just the usual small bumps, marks and signs of use you would expect from old copper that’s over 120 years old. Beautiful dovetail construction, sturdy brass handles held with 3 big rivets. Newly tinned and ready to use! The only odd thing about this pot is the bump out on the lower half of one side. The pot was clearly made this way, it is not the result of a dent or damage, but I’m not entirely sure what it might be meant for. Perhaps there was once a spout or plug that was removed at one point, or perhaps this bump was meant to perfectly fit a utensil or ladle of some sort.
Measures approximately 10” across not including handles; 13” across with handles; 12“ deep, this heavy, hotel quality piece weighs nearly 14 pounds empty! Thickness of the copper ranges from 2.2-2.6mm near the rim, and gets thicker towards the base.
