A rare, one of a kind circa 1880s silver plated creamer made by Tiffany and Company! The base of the creamer is engraved “Car Atalanta.” Atalanta was the name of the private train car of the New York gilded age financier and railroad tycoon Jay Gould. We have a few pieces of his personal Tiffany & Co silver, three railroad pieces and one from his yacht of the same name.
In excellent condition, no dents or damage, just small signs of use and age. There is a patch of brassiness showing through the silver plate on one side of the creamer, its difficult to photograph because the piece is polished and highly reflective but I’ve tried to show the spot in photos. I believe this was where someone had a monogram removed (why they would do that to such historic pieces I do not know!). This could be easily fixed by having the creamer re-plated.
Measures nearly 4 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide at the widest point from handle to spout.
