A lovely antique circa late 1800s to very early 1900s silver plated toothpick holder from the Regina Carlton Hotel in Rome, Italy. Originally known as The Carlton Hotel, built in 1892, the hotel became residence for Queen Margherita of Italy during the renovation of her palace, and she later bestowed the name "Regina" (Queen) upon the hotel. The Regina Carlton became the Baglioni Hotel Regina in the 1980s, and it is still known as one of the finest old hotels in Rome. We have another toothpick holder available from the same hotel, before it became known as the Regina Carlton.

In excellent condition, no dents or damage. It has polished up beautifully on the outside with minor discoloration on the inside. Measures approx. 4 inches long by 1.75 inches tall.
