A stunning and rare antique circa early 1900s heavy silver plated champagne or wine bucket with attached underplate from Rector’s in New York City! Rector’s was the grandest of the Broadway “Lobster Palaces” and is one of the most important restaurants in American social history.
In excellent condition, no large dents or damage, just lots of little surface scratches and bumps, and the usual signs of use you would expect from old restaurant silver that was used daily. Very minor tarnish, it will polish up beautifully if desired with wear and discoloration inside from standing water. Made by Reed & Barton and marked on the base “Rectors”
Measures approximately 8.5 inches tall, 10 inches wide across the handles, 7.25” wide across the top opening.
The interior and exterior photos of Rector’s are from the blog The American Menu, which was invaluable in researching and dating this piece. http://www.theamericanmenu.com/2015/08/rectors.html?m=1
