A beautiful antique circa late 1800s to very early 1900s silverplated champagne bucket/cooler from the Abbaye de Hautvillers. The Abbaye de Hautvillers was the Benedictine Monastery of Dom Perignon, a monk who contributed to the development of champagne wine (and the namesake of the worlds most famous champagne!). J. Simon & Cie were the proprietors of the wines produced at the Abbey in the late 1800s to early 1900s, prior to the Vineyard being owned by Moet and the first Dom Perignon being released. The final two images are pages from an old champagne menu that was released around the time this bucket was used, they are provided for historical context, only and are not included with the bucket.
In great condition, no dents or damage, just some small surface scratches, bumps, and splits. It has very minor tarnish but will polish up beautifully if desired, the silver plating is wearing thin so there’s a bit of a brassy hue in spots.
Measures approximately 9inches tall by 8.5 inches wide across the top opening.
