An antique circa 1880s heavy silver plated water pitcher from the steamboat Connecticut! The Connecticut was a passenger steamboat that ran from Newport, Rhode Island to New York City, across the Long Island, sound, as part of the Providence, Fall River & Newport Steamship Co.

In excellent condition for its 140+ years of age, no damage or signs of old repairs, just small surface marks and the usual signs of use you’d expect from old steamship silver. It has seen quite a bit of polishing in its day, and nearly all the silver plating has been polished away, leaving a golden hue with a bit of silver left behind in the low points and crevices. It is engraved with the ship name on the front, though the engraving is worn. Even with the wear to its finish, this is a lovely and rarely seen piece of New England, steamship history!

This pitcher measures approximately 9” in length from spout to handle by 10” tall
