A lovely antique circa 1920 copper oval gratin dish with sterling silver lining made by Joseph Heinrichs. Joseph Heinrichs made and sold very high quality cookware through such well regarded retailers as Tiffany & Co, and directly to many of the finest restaurants and hotels from 1897-1937... In the past we have had Joseph Heinrichs pieces from the Waldorf Astoria, The Plaza, and a number of other fine restaurants and hotels.
This dish was made for Nicholas F Brady’s spectacular Inisfada estate; a 300 acre country estate with 84 rooms, it was one of the largest private homes on the “Gold Coast” of north shore Long Island. Beautifully made, in amazing condition for it’s age, small surface marks and scratches but no dents or damage, sits flat. The dish has been lightly polished and retains some of its antique patina, the sterling lining is in good condition with some wear mainly to the handles.
Measures 11.25” long across the handles by 7.25” wide by approximately 1.5” deep.
