A beautiful antique circa early 1900s copper pot with sterling silver lining and bronze handle, made by Joseph Heinrichs, from the Cafe Martin in New York City, a rare piece of New York City restaurant history! Cafe Martin, opened by a pair of brothers in the space vacated by the famed Delmonico’s, was one of the first New York lobster palaces, a small group of restaurants that specialized in over the top and luxurious dining in the early 1900s. Even more famous than their food was the Café Martin’s Champagne selection; they kept so many bottles on hand that they had to institute “Champagne Only” hours for the bar, in fact the restaurant is often credited with giving us the tradition of drinking champagne at midnight on New Year’s Eve. The Cafe Martin closed on May 11, 1912, which helps us date this piece between the years 1902 and 1912.

Excellent antique condition, small signs of age and use in the way of small marks, bumps, and surface scratches, but no large dents or damage. This pot has been newly polished and cleaned it so it is ready for use! 

Measures approximately 6.5” wide by 1.75” deep, 12“ long including handle; weighs 2.2 pounds empty. Thickness around the rim is almost 2mm.
