A beautiful antique circa late 1800s French copper saute or sauce pan with iron handle, completely restored with new hand applied tin. Stamped with the mark of J Gaillard of Paris, also stamped "B Opera."
In great condition, lots and lots of signs of age and use from a commercial kitchen, many small marks and bumps but no big dents. The rim is a bit out of round when looking straight down into the pan. It sits flat on our gas range, but there might be a slight wobble on an extremely flat cooking surface such as glass. The only real issue with the piece is the iron handle was broken near a rivet, so there is a piece missing, though the handle is stilk securely attached. We have two of these antique Opera pans, but they were both in awful condition when we found them and needed a lot of TLC to bring them back to useful kitchen tools that were not too hard on the eyes. They show some battle scars, but are truly beautiful pieces of 4 mm thick antique French copper.
This heavy, hotel-weight piece has 3.9-4.1mm thickness at upper rim. Measures approximately 10” wide across the top, 3” deep, and 20.5” long including handle.
