Antique French Dehillerin Copper Rondeau from Wagons Lits Dining Car

A stunning antique circa 1890s to early 1900s heavy copper rondeau (which may have originally been the lid to a huge stock pot) with tin lining and riveted brass handles, from Dehillerin.

This is a beautiful handcrafted piece, made to last generations. The copper is nice and heavy, at the rim it is around 2.2-2.6mm. There are plenty of marks and bumps to the outside, some residual darkness to the handles from a very old lacquer that was poorly applied, the usual signs of use as to be expected from a piece that was used in a commercial environment for decades. The brass handles are sturdy and well-connected. The pan has been professionally polished and re-tinned and is ready for use! The pan has been stamped “WL” on the front, which from my research I have found is a mark that is attributed to Wagons-Lits, operators of luxury sleeping cars on the Orient Express railroad!

Measures approximately 12.25” across the top opening, 15” across the handles, by 2.25" tall. 2.2-2.6mm width at the lip. Weighs nearly 8 lbs!
