A beautiful antique English sterling silver and mother of pearl trowel, awarded for the laying of a foundation stone in 1887, then engraved again on the back to commemorate the laying of a memorial stone. the engraving on the front reads:

In excellent condition. The sterling has some surface scratches but no dents or damage/old repairs. The handle has one chip at the very end, but as otherwise free of cracks or damage. The back is fully hallmarked for sterling silver assayed in Birmingham England in 1880. This piece would make a beautiful desert server!
Trowel measures approximately 11” in length by 4" wide at the widest point.
