A lovely antique circa 1910s copper sauce pot with tinned interior and iron handle, from the famous Voisin restaurant in New York City! Voisin’s was a classic, opulent French restaurant that opened in 1913 in the Montana building (in fact, Voisin is considered the first fine dining restaurant to be established in a modern apartment building), the restaurant moved when that building was demolished in 1953 and survived a few more years until 1969. The restaurant was featured a number of times in literature, including F Scott Fitzgerald‘s “The Lost Decade” and Ian Fleming‘s “ Diamonds Are Forever.”

The copper pot is in excellent condition for its age, no big dents or damage, just a couple shallow bumps and lots of small signs of use from working in a restaurant kitchen for around 50 years. The handle rivets are still nice and tight, the pot sits flat on the grates of our Gas stove, but as always with these antique pots there may be a slight wobble on a perfectly flat surface, such as glass. The pot has been polished, tinned, and is ready for use in your kitchen! We have two of these pots at the moment, this is the larger one. The final photo shows both pots side-by-side so you can see the difference between the two. This pot measures approximately 8 inches wide by 3.5 inches deep, 15.5 inches long along the handle. Walls of slightly less than 2 mm, weighs approximately 3 lbs. 10 oz. pounds empty.
