Antique 1904 Silver Plated Champagne Bucket from The Bellevue-Stratford Hotel Philadelphia

$795.00
Current stock: 0 SOLD OUT

A lovely Victorian era silver plated champagne bucket from the Bellevue Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In excellent condition for a piece that’s ~120 years old, no large dents or damage. Some surface scratches and small marks/bumps you’d expect from old hotel silver that was used daily. Moderate tarnish that will polish up much better than shown in the photos (I only gave it a partial polish to really highlight the raised decoration and handles). Tarnish, water marks and discoloration inside.

Marked on the base with Gorham marks and the date mark for 1904, dating this piece to the very first silver order for the new Bellevue Stratford hotel! Those of you who collect hotel silver may recognize this style as identical to the original silver designs for the Waldorf Astoria hotel. That’s because the Bellevue Stratford was built by George Boldt, the original manager of the Waldorf and Waldorf-Astoria hotel, and he ordered the same famous silver pattern for the opening of his new hotel in Philadelphia.

Measures approximately 9.5” tall by 9.25” wide
