A beautiful and rarely seen antique Victorian era silver plated footed serving dish from The Waldorf hotel! The original Waldorf hotel opened in 1893, combined a few years later with the Astoria hotel next-door and was demolished to make way for the Empire State building. The current Waldorf-Astoria building was built in 1931. A rare piece of New York City hotel history!
In excellent condition for a piece that’s 120+ years old, no large dents or damage. Some surface scratches and small marks/bumps you’d expect from old hotel silver that was used daily. The silver plating is in beautiful condition. Marked on the base with Gorham marks and the date mark for 1893, dating this piece to the opening of the Waldorf hotel! the base is also marked with the name of the original hotel manager, George Boldt.
Dish measures slightly over 6” wide by almost 1.25" tall
