An antique circa 1920s silver plated loose tea infuser/strainer from the Hong Kong & Shanghai Hotels company! The company was originally incorporated in 1866 as The Hongkong Hotel Company Limited, owner of the Hong Kong Hotel (opened in 1868). The company merged with the Shanghai Hotel in 1922 to become Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels in the following year. The company is best known today as owner and operator of the luxurious Peninsula hotels around the world. 1928 was the year the original peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong officially open to the public, so this piece is probably from that hotel's opening!
In excellent condition for its age, no large dents or damage, just small signs of use and age. Marked with the hotel name and crest on top of the handle, made by map and & Web as marked underneath. The two marks are timeworn due to polishing and re-plating over the years, and are a little difficult to make out unless looking closely or under magnification.
Measures approximately 5 inches long along the handle by 2.5 inches it's wide across the basket.
