A lovely and rare antique circa 1913 English cranberry red glass match striker with sterling top. Great antique condition, but not excellent. There are some flea bites and one small chip near the base of the glass striker. The silver top has a little bit of dark spotting along one edge and feels a little fragile, if I had to guess I would say the top came loose at some point and someone glued it, got a little super glue along the edge of the sterling that won't polish off and perhaps didn't do the best job. Regardless of these issues, it's still displays beautifully from most sides, they're really only apparent when you're looking closely at the striker. Full hallmarks for Sterling Silver, assayed in Birmingham in the year 1913.
