A stunning and rarely seen antique circa 1898 solid sterling silver ice cream slice with vermeil (gold) finish, made by Tiffany and Company in the 1880 Chrysanthemum pattern! Originally made to slice Victorian era ice cream bricks/loaves, this would make a beautiful cake or dessert server, and would even work for fish and smaller pieces of meat.
In excellent condition, no damage aside from some very small surface scratches from use. The gold plating is still intact without any of the patches of wear through these pieces usually have! Marked Tiffany and Co. and Sterling on the back of the handle, the front of the handle has been engraved with an S monogram and both the years 1848 and 1898, which probably means this was presented as a 50th anniversary present.
Measures a bit over 12.25 inches in length, quite heavy for its size at 201.4 grams.
