A rare piece of New York & Catskills railway history, a pair of antique circa 1889 silver plated pair of salt & pepper shakers from the New York Ontario & Western Railway. In excellent condition, no large dents or damage, just some fine surface scratches and marks, and light wear to the lids. Marked on the front with the New York Ontario & Western Railway reporting mark "O & W" and on the base with Gorham marks along and the days stamp for manufacture in the year 1889.

Measures approximately 4 inches tall.

The New York Ontario & Western Railway ferried passengers upstate from NYC from the 1860s through the 1940s, the most popular part of the line being summer service from New York City to the Borscht Belt resorts in the Catskills and beyond.
