A stunning antique circa 1887 silver plated lidded serving bowl or tureen made by Gorham, engraved for the steam yacht Punjaub, owned by Frederick Lewis Miller Masury of New York, an avid yachtsman and member of the New York Yacht Club. Heir to the Masury & Son Paint Co. of Brooklyn; a significant paint manufacturer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, that was founded by his stepfather John W. Masury. He was an innovator in the paint industry, developing techniques like the thin metal lid we now know well from standard paint cans, a "dripless can" and water-cooled pigment grinding. The company grew from a small shop in Brooklyn in the 19th century to a major, countrywide corporation that was bought by Valspar in the 1970s.

In amazing condition for its age, no dents or damage, just some light surface marks from polishing and use. There are some very small signs of use and age, light surface scratches and signs of use. It has polished up beautifully!

Measures approximately 11.25 inches from handle to handle, stands 8.25 inches tall to the top of the lid.
