An antique circa 1902-1910s set of 12 silver plated demitasse spoons from Hotel Brevoort in New York City! In excellent condition, no major dents or damage to the spoons, just the usually small bumps and marks you’d expect from old hotel silver, with mild tarnish that will polish up beautifully if desired. Marked with the hotel name on the back of the handle, and a crest on the front featuring the owner’s initials.

The hotel Brevoort was housed in a 1834 mansion located at the corner of 5th avenue and 9th street in New York city. In 1902, restaurateur Raymond Orteig purchased the Hotel Brevoort. A native of France, Mr. Orteig modeled the hotel and its restaurant on French precedents. The Café Brevoort, which he opened on the ground floor and basement of the hotel, served up haute French cuisine to notables of the day including Mark Twain, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Eugene O’Neill and George F. Baker. It included Parisian style sidewalk dining, a new feature for manhattan at the time. In fact, the Brevoort is known as New York City’s original sidewalk cafe!
