An antique circa 1898 horn whisky/spirit cup with sterling silver upper and lower rims and double cartouche! One cartouche has been left blank, but the other is engraved with the King's Regiment (Liverpool) insignia—the White Horse of Hanover surrounded by the Order of the Garter motto: "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). A scrolled silver banner beneath the crest reads: "3rd Batt. The King's Liverpool Regt.". Great antique condition, no damage to the horn, though the base rim is a little dented and the top rim a little loose from age related shrinkage (both issues only obvious when you're handling the cup, it still displays beautifully). The glass base is without any chips or cracks. The rims are marked with full hallmarks for sterling silver assayed in Chester in the year 1898. Measures approximately 4.5” tall.
