A lovely antique circa late 19th to early 20th Century copper saute pan with iron handle and tinned interior. Made by L. Barth & Sons for Churchill’s in New York City, an old Broadway lobster palace offering dinner, dancing and music. Owned by Jim Churchill, a former police captain, Churchill’s offered all night dining and dancing from 1910-1921 until it faced the same fate as all the other Broadway lobster palaces and was closed thanks to prohibition.
In amazing condition for its age, no big dents or damage, just the kinds of bumps, small marks and signs of use you’d expect from old copper that is about 120+ years old. Sits flat on our gas stove, but there may be a slight rock on a perfect flat surface like glass. This pan has been polished, re-tinned and is ready for use! Marked L. Barth & Son. 30-32 Cooper Sq. New York. and CHURCHILL.
Measures just a bit over 12.25 inches across not including handle, 23.5 inches in length including the handle, by 2.75 inches deep. This pan weighs 7 pounds 2 ounces. The walls vary from 2 mm to 2.2 mm thick near the rim. It has been polished and retinned and is ready for use!
