A wonderful antique circa early 1900s copper gratin dish with sterling silver lining made by Joseph Heinrichs. Joseph Heinrichs made and sold very high quality cookware through such well regarded retailers as Tiffany & Co, and directly to many of the finest restaurants and hotels from 1897-1937... In the past we have had Joseph Heinrichs pieces from the Waldorf Astoria, The Plaza, and a number of other fine restaurants and hotels. This particular piece was made for the Hotel Thorndike in Boston, Massachusetts. Beautifully made, in amazing condition for its age, small surface marks and scratches but no dents or damage, it sits flat. the dish has been polished inside and out; the sterling lining is in excellent condition with only small surface scratches and utensil marks inside, no big spots of missing silver. Though this was designed for soufflé/eggs and au gratin dishes, it’s actually the perfect size and shape to serve as an ice bucket! Measures almost 12 inches across the handles by 8 inches wide by about 5 inches tall. The final two photos are ephemera I came across while researching this piece, they are shown for historical context only and are not included with purchase.
