A wonderful vintage circa 1961 cobalt glazed china teapot with silver plated lid and frame, from the Water Tower Inn in Chicago, Illinois! The hotel opened in 1961, making this teapot part of the original silver order for the hotel. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t last long, the hotel was only open for about 30 years before being shuttered and eventually demolished in 1997 to make way for the Park Hyatt.
In excellent condition, no dents or damage to the silver, just the usual small marks and signs of use you would expect from old hotel silver that was used daily. No chips to the teapot body. The only issue with this piece is that the lid is a little tight, so it doesn’t sit exactly flat against the rim of the teapot. There will always be a little gap between the silver lid and the lip of the teapot. Marked on the base as made by Hall, the silver frame was made by International Silver, marked with the hotel name underneath the lid.
Measures approximately 4.25 inches tall by 6.25 inches from spout to handle
