A lovely antique circa 1918 silver plated platter cover dome from the Bellevue Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In excellent condition for a piece that’s ~110 years old, no large dents or damage. Some surface scratches and small marks/bumps you’d expect from old hotel silver that was used daily. Marked on the base with Gorham marks and the date mark for 1918, also marked inside "Bellevue Stratford hotel." Those of you who collect hotel silver may recognize this style as identical to the original silver designs for the pre-1920s Waldorf-Astoria hotel. That’s because the Bellevue Stratford was built by George Boldt, the original manager of the Waldorf and Waldorf-Astoria hotel, and he ordered the same famous silver pattern for the opening of his new hotel in Philadelphia. Measures a bit under 9 inches long by 5.5 inches, made to fit a 9 inch oval platter.
