An antique circa 1788 English copper vegetable colander or root vegetable steamer with two big handles. Stamped along the rim rear one handle "1788 Clun Manor." Clun Manor was the historic manorial estate and lordship of Clun, situated in the small town of Clun in Shropshire, England near the Welsh border. Parts of the castle and walls still remain today, but the manor house itself is long gone. This antique copper has been professionally cleaned, tinned, and polished. In excellent condition for 230+ year old copper cookware; like most 18th century copper it's hand-built from a slightly lighter gauge copper, about 1.5mm, and has picked up many small marks and dings, one slight separation near the rim (see last photo), but no damage or structural issues. This is a beautiful, hand-crafted piece that really shows its history! Measures approximately 14.5” wide, 17" with the handles, by 5.25" deep.
