1905 Sterling Leather and Copper Champagne Cooler

A stunning antique circa 1905 loving cup style champagne bucket/cooler handmade from leather, copper and sterling silver. This bucket has a copper lining, with hand stitched black leather built over it and an applied sterling silver rim and cartouche on the front. The sterling silver is unengraved, and there’s no evidence engraving was ever removed from it. I’ve come across a few smaller leather/sterling pieces like this over the years and they were all made by Gorham, so I believe this piece was made by Gorham, though there are no legible makers marks, just English hallmarks that indicate this piece was made outside of England but then assayed for sale in England in the year 1905.

In amazing condition for its age, no dents or damage to the copper body or sterling, just some very small marks and signs of polishing/use to the silver. The leather has no rips, tears or loose stitching, there’s quite a bit of age to it but it still has a beautiful patina and glossy finish.

Measures approximately 9 inches tall by 7 inches wide across the opening, 10.25 inches wide including the arms.
